I generally ignored the news that Death Cab For Cutie had a new album coming out and that they, in fact, just played the Greek Theater with Rogue Wave (one of my favorite bands). I just let the news kinda fall by the wayside. It wasn’t that important to me that I see DCFC as I was never a huge fan, but one of those great musical discovery moments occurred this weekend while I was out with my good friend visiting from out-of-town. I can’t remember exactly where we were when we heard the tune shown below, but I made out Ben Gibbard’s voice over some serious grooving and I immediately stopped my friend short to get confirmation that we were listening to some seriously good music that required some of our attention. He was all, “eh,” whereas I was all “OMG Hype Machine ASAP.”

they played this live at the tiny sound opinions show i saw.. it was awesome.
I just became so much more jealous that I wasn’t able to attend that show…that sounds really cool.
